The timeline is color-coded like the book describes with Kansas being Gray, Munchkin Land (East) being Blue, Emerald City (Central) being Green, Winkie country (West) being Yellow, and Quadling country (South) being Red. "The Wizard of Oz" book defines the days clearly except one brief period while Dorothy was a captive of the Wicked Witch of the West. There are times in the book when it refers to a couple of days which I took as two, a few days which I took as three but in this case we are not told any specifics. We are told there were days and nights but no quanitites. Since no time was specified, I took it as one day longer than the most days that were specified which would make this four days. With this speculatory scenario, it brings Dorothy's time in Oz to an even 40 days in all.
